Oktoberfest is a Bavarian Folk Festival that has been celebrated now for over 200 years.  It is meant to celebrate and honor everything that the Bavarian culture is best known for including; its vast variety in food and drink, the distinguished and vibrant colors worn in their traditional dress, the fun music and singing, and even the wonderful games that are played.

Though initially Prince Ludwig of Bavaria had a huge horse race to honor the festivities we do it in a slightly smaller yet still very entertaining manner through of The Running of the Wieners.  We dress up Dachshunds like hot dogs and watch them run.

Over time, the festival has now grown to a 16-day extravaganza in Germany but here in the United States we like to tone it down a bit and do it over a weekend, so everyone can still make it back to work on Monday.

Come out and enjoy Oktoberfest…. Springfield Style! Want to really get into the spirit, come dressed in traditional Lederhosen or in a Dirndl and gain free entry!

All proceeds go to support the Boys & Girls Clubs and Humane Society!
